At departure time

At the time of vacation departures and long weekends, traveling in an electric car no longer depends only on the vehicle's range. The quality of the charging stations available at the destination matters just as much. And in this area, two French territories clearly stand out: Marne-la-Vallée and the Lille metropolis.

Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille or Nice are not among the territories highlighted by this study. The observation may be surprising, as large metropolises seem naturally associated with the development of electric mobility. However, the most successful charging networks are not always found where the population is largest. They also emerge at the heart of destinations which live to the rhythm of travelers, tourist stays and large automobile flows.

To the east of Paris as well as on the outskirts of Lille, resorts have developed around places where people stay, work, stop off or continue their journey. An establishment designed less as a destination in itself than as a natural extension of the journey.

the Bornage Recharge Score evaluates this experience based on several criteria, including the network of stations, their reception capacity, rapid charging and coverage of the territory. The complete methodology can be consulted in the guide dedicated to the Bornage Recharge Score.

The most welcoming territories for electric cars are not always the most famous. These are the ones where recharging is almost forgotten.

Marne-la-Vallée — 9/10

In Marne-la-Vallée, the journey begins well before the gates of Disneyland Paris. On the main roads in the east of the Ile-de-France region, hotels are appearing, Val d'Europe brands are taking shape and car parks are welcoming the first families coming to spend a day, a weekend or a few days of vacation in the region.

This permanent presence has shaped the territory. Electric charging stations followed visitors, setting up near accommodations, restaurants, shopping centers and main routes. Today they make up a dense network, spread well beyond just tourist attractions.

With a score of 9/10, Marne-la-Vallée stands out as one of the most accomplished charging ecosystems in France. Its strength does not lie in an isolated municipality, but on a group of towns capable of supporting motorists throughout their stay.

Bussy-Saint-Georges, at the gateway to travel

A few minutes from Disneyland Paris and Val d’Europe, Bussy-Saint-Georges occupies a privileged position. A city of passage, stay and departure, it accompanies the constant movements of residents and tourists who come to discover one of the busiest destinations in Europe.

Its 144 charging stations, representing 1,263 connectors, can accommodate a large number of electric vehicles simultaneously. Recharging then fits into the natural course of the day: for lunch, a night at the hotel or a trip to the parks, the car regains its range without requiring a detour.

Here, recharging does not interrupt the vacation. It simply slips into the program.

The most welcoming territories are those where charging is almost forgotten.

Ferrières-en-Brie, elegance away from the hustle and bustle

A few kilometers are enough to change the atmosphere. In Ferrières-en-Brie, the large tourist flows give way to the tree-lined paths and majestic lines of the Ferrières castle. The estate offers a calmer, almost confidential break, in the immediate vicinity of the excitement of Marne-la-Vallée.

However, the municipality has 49 stations, representing 321 connectors. A density that allows you to discover local heritage, stop off during a road trip or reach neighboring destinations with the certainty of being able to get back on the road with peace of mind.

5

Guermantes, the discreet surprise

Guermantes cultivates a completely different face. Its peaceful streets, its residential environment and its castle create a setting far removed from the image that we spontaneously associate with large car charging networks.

It is precisely this contrast that sets it apart. With 94 charging stations and 670 connectors, this discreet town benefits from a large capacity to support travel throughout the entire tourist area. She reminds us that the experience of traveling in an electric car does not stop at the most popular places: it also depends on the continuity of the network that surrounds them.

Marne-la-Vallée does not owe its rating to an accumulation of charging stations. It owes it to a territory which has learned to follow the rhythm of its visitors.

6

Lille metropolis — 9/10

In Lille, the journey never really stops. Belgium is a few kilometers away, Paris an hour by TGV, London less than two hours and the Netherlands are easily reached by road. Capital of Hauts-de-France, the Lille metropolis has long been a European crossroads where vacationers, professionals, cross-border commuters and passing travelers meet.

This privileged position has naturally shaped its charging network. The stations accompany major routes, business districts, shopping centers and living spaces. They follow the movement of a metropolis which never ceases to welcome, connect and circulate.

With a score of 9/10, the Lille metropolis confirms that an excellent charging network does not arise only from a tourist destination. It is also built where travel is permanent, where the automobile remains at the heart of mobility and where each journey can become the start of another journey.

Two municipalities particularly illustrate this dynamic: Lesquin and Lezennes.

7

Lesquin, where the roads cross

At first glance, Lesquin is best known for its airport. However, the municipality plays a much larger role in travel in the metropolis. Between travelers who take a plane, motorists who reach Lille or those who continue their route to Belgium, it constitutes one of the main points of entry into the territory.

With 150 charging stations, representing 900 connectors, Lesquin has a capacity that naturally supports this activity. Whether you are going on vacation, returning from a business trip or simply passing through the region, recharging your electric vehicle is part of the trip with the same obviousness as stopping at a rest area.

In Lesquin, charging accompanies departures as well as returns.

8

Lezennes, the discreet heart of the network

Just a few minutes from the historic center of Lille, Lezennes is not among the best-known towns in the metropolis. However, it is here that the greatest recharge capacity in this study is concentrated.

With 231 stations, representing 1,637 connectors, the town perfectly illustrates the maturity of the territory. The infrastructures accompany the numerous shops, offices, sports facilities and roads which structure the sector. For residents and visitors alike who come to discover Lille for a weekend, attend an event or continue their journey to Brussels or Amsterdam, recharging becomes an almost imperceptible step.

The best networks are often the ones we no longer think about.

The Lille metropolis demonstrates that a region does not need to be a vacation destination to offer an exemplary charging experience. Here, it is exchanges, daily journeys and major European routes that have shaped the infrastructure.

9

Two territories, the same vision of mobility

Marne-la-Vallée and the Lille metropolis have, apparently, little in common. One evokes vacations, leisure and family stays. The other embodies European exchanges, professional travel and life in a large metropolis.

However, these two territories share the same philosophy: charging infrastructures have been designed where motorists really need them. They follow usage, accompany travelers and integrate naturally into the landscape.

This is precisely what the Bornage Recharge Score reveals. The quality of a territory is not measured only by the number of stations installed, but by their ability to make each trip simpler, smoother and more peaceful.

The best charging networks aren't the ones you notice. These are the ones that allow you to fully enjoy the trip.
